Background
Born in Japan, YumaNC spent her childhood (ages 8–13) in Aarhus, Denmark, due to her father’s diplomatic assignment. There, surrounded by timber houses, quiet libraries, and the northern lights over the harbor, her creative instincts blossomed.
Emotionally reserved as a child, she expressed herself through journals and melodies. Aarhus introduced her to vintage toys, dusty music boxes, and hidden record stores that sparked her love for nostalgic sound design. Returning to Japan, she developed her unique genre “Toyronica,” blending toy instruments, lo-fi rhythms, and memory-infused textures.
