Raised between port-city night air and rehearsal-room feedback, MakiNC grew up obsessed with the texture of sound—how distortion can feel like a confession, and silence can feel like an accusation. In her late teens, she started writing lyrics as “arguments with herself,” then found her voice fronting a small underground band that blended modern emo/shoegaze haze with post-grunge punch.
She’s often compared to a contemporary re-interpretation of classic Japanese female rock lineage (the rawness, the presence, the refusal to decorate pain), but her defining trait is control: she can hold a calm, almost conversational tone inside a wall of guitars—then crack it open in the chorus like a door kicked from the inside.
